SUMMARY: WT News reports a mostly cloudy day with temperatures in the mid to lower 80s. Tonight, temperatures will drop to the lower 70s and then into the mid to lower 60s overnight. It’s recommended to grab a jacket for the cooler morning; however, temperatures will warm up to the mid 80s by lunchtime on Monday. Similar weather is expected throughout the week, with mostly cloudy skies. Meanwhile, tropical storm Isaac has weakened and poses no threat, along with tropical storm Joy. There’s also potential for further development in the Atlantic. Overall, pleasant fall-like temperatures are forecasted.

Atlanta Braves host baseball clinic in Jackson
SUMMARY: The Atlanta Braves hosted a baseball training clinic at Smith Wills Stadium in Jackson, also known as the Hank Aaron Sports Academy. Despite the absence of the M-Braves, the Braves organization continues to positively impact the local community. Camp director Kevin Batista emphasized the personal benefits he’s gained from baseball and the importance of providing kids with memorable experiences. With over 25 years as an educator, he believes unifying baseball and learning fosters community engagement and enjoyment, creating a vibrant “Braves Country” atmosphere that energizes local ballparks. The event included food, fire trucks, and music for attendees.
The Atlanta Braves organization is still maintaining their presence in the Jackson metro area despite their minor league M-Braves franchise leaving the state. The Braves hosted a baseball clinic this weekend in Jackson to pour into the youth.

Today's Weather – Tori Alvarado – September 30th, 2024
SUMMARY: Monday’s weather will be pleasantly cool, with highs in the lower to mid 80s and increasing cloud coverage but no rain expected. Overnight, temperatures will dip to the mid to lower 60s. A similar forecast follows for Tuesday, with mid 80s and cloudiness, while Wednesday and Thursday will bring more sunshine and slightly rising temperatures nearing the upper 80s. In the tropics, Tropical Storm Isaac is moving towards Europe and will not affect the U.S. Other systems, including Tropical Depression 12, are also being monitored but are expected to remain offshore. A 50% chance of new development exists in the Caribbean Sea.

CCSD investigator injured in crash
SUMMARY: A Claiborne County sheriff’s investigator, Richard Meeks, is recovering after a crash that occurred shortly after he left work on Highway 61 in Warren County. The sheriff’s department shared that Meeks’ vehicle was severely damaged in the accident. Sheriff Edward Good requested prayers for everyone involved and expressed gratitude to first responders.
An investigator with the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Department is recovering after he was injured in a crash.
