Your Mississippi forecast for Thursday, March 2

Severe thunderstorms are likely across parts of central Mississippi late Thursday night through Friday morning. According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, tornadoes, some possibly strong, and damaging winds will be the main threats with the most intense storms. Hail up to the size of half dollars will also be possible.

Strong southerly winds are expected Thursday evening through Friday ahead of – and in the wake of – a cold front. Sustained wind speeds of up to 25 to 35 mph and gusts over 40 mph will be possible across most of the forecast area as this system moves through the region. These winds could down some trees and power lines, making travel difficult for high-profile vehicles.

Northern Mississippi

Chance of showers in the morning, with thunderstorms possible during the day. Showers will become more likely in the afternoon with highs in the lower to mid-70s. Showers and thunderstorms will continue in the evening with lows in the mid to upper …
