SUMMARY: The family of Delano Burks, a 26-year-old man found dead in the Houston Ship Channel nearly two years ago, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against McIntyre’s bar in the Heights. They claim that the bar over-served Burks and forcibly removed him while knowing he was intoxicated and in need of assistance. The lawsuit alleges negligence, stating that bar staff failed to implement safety policies that could have prevented Burks’ death after he went missing in November 2022. Burks’ body was discovered on November 25, 2022, by tugboat employees, nearly two weeks after his disappearance.

A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against a Heights bar after a 26-year-old man was found dead in the Houston Ship Channel, allegedly after being kicked out of the bar two years ago.

SUMMARY: Ahead of the U.S. Senate’s vote for a new majority leader, several Texas Republican groups oppose Sen. John Cornyn, citing his support for gun control and a failed border bill. Cornyn, seen as Mitch McConnell’s preferred candidate, faces competition from Sen. Rick Scott, who is backed by many conservatives. Cornyn has faced criticism for authoring the 2018 ‘FIX-NICS’ Act, which critics say infringed on veterans’ gun rights. Several local Texas GOP organizations have denounced Cornyn’s alignment with Democrats and support for omnibus bills, urging Senate Republicans to choose a leader who upholds conservative, America First values, like Scott.
