Human remains found in Carroll County confirmed to be those of missing Ole Miss student Jimmie ‘Jay’ Lee
SUMMARY: Human remains discovered by hunters in Carroll County have been confirmed to belong to Jimmie “Jay” Lee, a former Ole Miss student missing since July 8, 2022. A necklace with Lee’s name was found at the site. Authorities arrested Sheldon “Timothy” Herrington, Jr. shortly after Lee’s disappearance, accusing him of murder linked to their alleged romantic relationship. A mistrial occurred due to a jury’s indecision, with one juror reluctant to convict without a body. With Lee’s remains now identified, a retrial is expected, potentially complicating the defense’s claims of Herrington’s innocence. Lee’s parents had previously declared him legally dead.
