Women accused of vandalizing park in Oxford avoid trial or community service
SUMMARY: Two women who vandalized a new pocket park in Oxford did not go to trial and were not given community service. Instead, they were placed in a pre-trial Intervention Program, where they must stay out of trouble for a year and keep a clean criminal record. While some residents believe the punishment was too lenient and wanted to see community service or a formal apology, others feel that justice was served. The women were required to pay over $4,200 in fines and restitution to the city. Overall, opinions on the punishment are mixed among Oxford residents.
