Woman sent to the hospital twice after breathing chemical plume from BioLab
SUMMARY: A shelter-in-place order is in effect in Rockdale County from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. until Friday due to a chemical plume from a biolab. Many residents, experiencing strong chlorine odors and smoke, are reluctant to return home. Julia Kelly, one of several evacuees, required hospitalization for respiratory issues linked to the exposure. Despite assurances of safety, she feels it’s dangerous, especially for her with a heart condition. She and her family have sought refuge elsewhere and won’t return until it’s safe. Residents are advised to contact healthcare providers for symptoms and to take precautions outdoors.
Galia Kelley says doctors told her she was the 80th person from Conyers to seek treatment since Sunday.
