Woman convicted in murder case
SUMMARY: Yolanda Torns was convicted of second-degree murder for her role in the murder of Celeste McDonald. McDonald was reported missing on March 31st, 2019 and her body was found the next day in Mound, Louisiana. Ryan Hopkins was responsible for McDonald’s death after she accused him of sexual assault. Torns was found guilty of helping dispose of McDonald’s body and was sentenced to 40 years in prison with 15 years suspended.

SUMMARY: Local shoppers in Tupelo are hopeful for a Target store after years of anticipation. Target filed plans in September for a store in the Barnes Crossing area near North Gloster Street and Interstate 22. The Tupelo City Council recently approved an agreement to incentivize the retailer, including infrastructure improvements to alleviate traffic. While some community members express excitement about the shopping options, Target has not confirmed its plans for Tupelo, as its future store openings do not currently include the city. Despite recent mixed earnings reports, company officials remain optimistic about their long-term prospects.
