SUMMARY: The SWAC off-season has seen significant coaching changes. Willie Simmons resigned as head coach of FAMU to join Manny Diaz’s staff at Duke. Diaz, the former head coach at Miami, appointed as the head coach of the Blue Devils last month. Fred McNair, with a successful track record at Alcorn State, is a potential candidate for the FAMU head coaching position. However, Texas Southern’s Board of Regents has paused his appointment as head coach, considering other options. McNair has won two titles in seven years, making him an attractive option for FAMU. The coaching carousel in the SWAC continues to provide drama and intrigue.

SWAC Coach of the Year and SWAC Champion head coach Willie Simmons of FAMU is now headed to the ACC. After five seasons he resigns as Flordia A&M’s head coach to be the running backs coach at Duke where former Miami head coach Manny Diaz was just hired. Simmons led the Rattlers to the SWAC title and a win over Howard in the Celebration Bowl. The opening at FAMU could be a possible landed spot for former Alcorn State head coach Fred McNair who is still in limbo as he awaits a final decision from Texas Southern.

Jackson Democratic mayoral primary heads to runoff

Published

on

www.youtube.com – WJTV 12 News – 2025-04-02 19:48:19

SUMMARY: In Jackson’s Democratic mayoral primary, Senator John Horn nearly avoided a runoff despite low voter turnout. Horn will face incumbent Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba in a runoff on April 22nd, after securing over 7,000 more votes than Lumumba. Many voters, including some who typically lean Republican, supported Horn for his hard campaigning and ability to get things done. However, Horn’s vote share fell short of the 50% needed to avoid a runoff. The winner of the runoff will advance to the June 3rd general election. Voters are seeking a mayor who is transparent and effective in managing city resources.

Dr. Quinn observes that technology often distracts users, leading to time loss and decreased engagement in daily activities. He suggests a technology detox, advocating for 24-hour breaks from social media to foster mental well-being. Additionally, he notes that prolonged screen time can cause eye strain and reduce active learning opportunities, particularly among students using AI for schoolwork.
