One killed, three injured in Yazoo County crash

Man arrested after MHP chase ends in crash on I-220

SUMMARY: A traffic stop by the (MHP) on a Nissan Altima in escalated into a chase on October 14. During the stop, discovered the passenger was a wanted individual. As the driver fled, the passenger took control of the vehicle and drove off. The chase concluded on I-220 South when the car crashed into a cable barrier. The driver, identified as 33-year-old Jody Tate from Bentonia, attempted to escape on but was apprehended. He was charged with felony fleeing and had several outstanding warrants. Tate was taken to the Yazoo County Detention Center.
