Who is in charge of fixing the issues exposed by KPRC 2 ‘DRAINED’ Investigation?
SUMMARY: Investigative reporter Amy Davis has been tracking Houston’s water billing issues, revealing problems of inaccurate billing that led to complaints from residents. Since the mayor‘s action plan began in April, aimed at rectifying these issues, the city has replaced about 52,000 out of 125,000 broken remote read sensors, which should improve billing accuracy based on actual usage. The new head of Houston Public Works, Randy Macky, emphasizes transparency and improved customer service, reporting that 75% of customer issues resolve in one meeting. Actual usage-based billing will start in about a month, with ongoing updates available on the news website.
