If the Senate is unhappy with House Bill 1725, the Committee on Medicaid has less than five days to move forward with their own plan. House Minority Leader Robert Johnson is prepared to move forward either way. Even if the bill passes the Senate, it still needs to be signed by the governor. The House has enough support to override a potential veto. Speaker Jason White doesn’t expect a veto and hopes for a business-minded governor to consider the legislature’s decision. The governor could allow the bill to become law without signing it if both chambers pass it with a veto-proof majority.
