What to know about Mississippi’s 2024 Primary Election Runoff
SUMMARY: Mississippi’s Primary Runoff Election Day is on April 2, featuring a Republican nominee runoff in the 2nd Congressional District. Ron Eller and Andrew Scott Smith are candidates on the ballot, with the winner facing U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson in November. Only those who cast a Republican ballot or did not vote in the primary may participate. Polls will open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. In-person absentee voting deadline was March 30, mail-in absentee ballots must be postmarked by April 2, and voter ID affidavit ballot deadline is April 9. Voters are required to show photo ID at the polls, and campaigning near polling places is prohibited. Contact the Elections Division for more information.
