SUMMARY: Fluoride in drinking water is a controversial topic, with 63% of Americans, including those in Shelby County, receiving water with added fluoride. Studies show it helps prevent cavities and save money in the long term. However, some experts, like Robert Kennedy Jr., advocate for its removal, citing concerns over a potential link between high fluoride levels and lower IQs in children. Pediatricians and water experts argue that the fluoride levels in Shelby County are safe, well below the EPA’s maximum, and that fluoride benefits outweigh the risks, with further research needed for clarity.

When you turn on your tap in Shelby County, a small amount of fluoride is mixed in with the water that comes out. It was mixed into the drinking water decades ago to help prevent tooth decay. But, not everyone is smiling about it after recent debates. www.youtube.com – WKRN News 2 – 2024-12-23 15:42:39

SUMMARY: Portland has experienced significant growth, with its population increasing by 15% since 2010. This trend is expected to continue in 2025, driven by the development of new residential areas and Nashville’s growth. Housing in Portland remains 53% below the national average, making it an attractive option for new residents. Despite this growth, locals hope to maintain a small-town feel, avoiding large-scale commercial developments. To manage this change, the city launched the “Preserve Portland” plan, which will guide zoning and development. Officials remain optimistic about the future, especially with anticipated decreases in interest rates in 2025.

The city of Portland has seen substantial growth in recent years and that’s not expected to slow down in 2025.
