SCGOP alleges illegal ballot harvesting in Marion County
SUMMARY: The South Carolina GOP is requesting investigations into alleged fraud and corruption within the Marion County Democratic Party, claiming evidence of illegal ballot harvesting operations. GOP Chairman Drew McKisic highlights suspicious registrations, including 16 voters at a vacant address and a significant rise in absentee ballots from the presidential primary to the statewide primary. In response, Marion County Democratic leaders emphasize their commitment to fair elections and will also seek a state investigation into the allegations. Tensions escalate as both parties gather evidence, and the Democratic Party plans to submit protest hearing transcripts to authorities.
The South Carolina Republican Party released a statement Monday alleging that a potential illegal ballot harvesting operation is being overseen by Democrats in Marion County.

What does the constitutional amendment question on the SC ballot mean?
SUMMARY: A potential amendment to South Carolina’s state constitution regarding voter qualifications is up for voter approval. The proposed change specifies that only U.S. citizens aged 18 and older, who are properly registered, can vote. Notably, the change replaces the term “every citizen” with “only a citizen.” Isaac Kramer, president of the SC Association of Registration and Election Officials, noted that this amendment does not affect current registered voters, including those temporarily residing in the state, such as college students, provided they declare their voting domicile. Kramer emphasized that South Carolina’s elections remain secure and well-regulated.
On Election Day, South Carolina voters will see a question on the ballot that could amend the state constitution regarding voter qualifications.
The proposed amendment seeks to specify that “only” U.S. citizens who are properly registered and aged 18 or older are entitled to vote.
ABC15’s Andrew James consulted experts on what would change, if South Carolinians vote to approve it.
