West Point police officers bonding with local kids through free shirts
SUMMARY: West Point Police Department is working to bridge the gap between children and law enforcement in their community by visiting schools and handing out t-shirts that promote gun violence awareness. The initiative aims to educate children about gun safety and the importance of understanding what is safe and what is not safe when it comes to guns. Over 400 students at Church Hill Elementary School received free t-shirts with the message “Enough Gun Violence, Protect Our Children.” This effort by the police department is part of a larger strategy to connect with children in schools, community centers, and parks to promote gun safety education at a young age.
West Point Police stopped by Church Hill Elementary School on Friday and handed out free shirts to all students.
SUMMARY: Students and faculty at DT Cox Elementary in Pontotoc have returned to campus after being displaced due to a January fire caused by a malfunction. The school had temporarily relocated to West Heights Baptist Church. Principal Emily Vanderver expressed gratitude for the church’s support and highlighted the joy of returning to their familiar environment. The 365 third and fourth graders are thrilled to resume their routine and enjoy longer playtime in their own space. The community is relieved to see the school restored and operating normally once again after several weeks of disruption.

Now a rookie, she is focused on learning from her more experienced teammates, Katie Lond and Jordan Bloomer, while remaining motivated by her faith.
