SUMMARY: Michael Edwards, a longtime law enforcement officer with over 20 years of experience, has been sworn in as the new Assistant Chief of the West Point Police Department. This is a homecoming for Edwards, who is a native of West Point. Police Chief Avery Cook believes that Edwards’ hometown connection will benefit the department and the city. Edwards expressed his joy at the opportunity to work in his hometown and give back to the community. He has replaced Kennedy Meadors, who left to take a leadership role with Columbus police. Edwards is well-known in the community and is excited to return and work in his hometown.
