Brandon residents call for traffic lights to be installed at dangerous intersection
SUMMARY: Brandon residents gathered at the public library to advocate for a traffic light at the dangerous intersection of Sunset Drive and Highway 18, where 18-year-old Grayson Huff was recently killed in a motorcycle accident. City leaders, including Mayor Butch Lee and Commissioner Willie Simmons, held a meeting allowing citizens to share their concerns and experiences. Residents highlighted multiple accidents at this intersection over the years and expressed frustration over the lack of safety measures. City submits action plan for Thalia Mara Hall
SUMMARY: The City of Jackson has submitted a plan to address fire code violations at Jamar Hall, meeting the deadline to avoid the venue’s closure. The plan targets nearly two dozen violations, mold issues, and human waste on the upper balcony. Cleaning of the balcony is scheduled for this week, and the city reports a tentative agreement with a contractor for further remediation efforts.
The Mississippi fire marshal has announced that his office has received a “Plan of Actions” from the city of Jackson to correct issues plaguing Thalia Mara Hall.

Tupelo schools will hold homecoming parade Thursday
SUMMARY: Expect traffic delays in downtown Tupelo today due to Tupelo High School’s homecoming parade, starting at 4 PM. The parade will commence at the intersection of Commer Street and East Jefferson Street. Additionally, a pep rally will take place at Fair Park, located in front of City Hall.
The Tupelo Public School District will have its homecoming parade on Thursday.
