Hurricane Hunters take wild ride into Helene's eye
SUMMARY: As Hurricane Helen approached, a NOAA P3 Orion flight, nicknamed Kermit, based in Florida, staged in Houston for a challenging mission into the Category 4 storm. Captured cockpit video showed the turbulence as the crew made multiple passes through the eyewall, gathering essential data. As Helene was coming ashore on Thursday night, a Hurricane Hunter flight was able to escape the eye of the storm.
