Waveland community comes together to meet candidates for upcoming elections
Over the weekend, Waveland residents got the chance to meet and greet candidates for the upcoming mayoral and aldermen elections.
The community ate breakfast with 20 candidates and first responders at American Legion Post 77 on Saturday.
Each candidate was given three minutes to talk about their platform and vision for the city, followed by questions from residents.
The primaries for these elections are October 4th and, if necessary, a runoff is scheduled for October 25th. The general election will be held on December 6th.

Man accused in UnitedHealthcare CEO killing faces federal charge that’s eligible for death penalty
SUMMARY: Luigi Mangione, accused of killing UnitedHealthcare’s CEO Brian Thompson on December 4, faces federal charges of stalking, murder by firearm, and a firearms offense, which could result in the death penalty. Arrested in Pennsylvania, Mangione was extradited to New York, where he appeared in federal court. He had ambushed Thompson at a Manhattan hotel, then fled, eventually being caught in Pennsylvania with the murder weapon, fake IDs, and a notebook expressing hostility toward the health insurance industry. Mangione had posted on social media about his resentment towards insurance companies. His state charges could lead to life in prison.
