Watching for burnout in students
SUMMARY: School has started in Coast districts, causing adjustments and high anxiety for students. Therapists warn about potential burnout due to the stresses of the academic year and suggest ways for parents to assist their children. Stephanie Gurka of Thriveworks Therapy recommends digging deep into the child’s day and developing their time management skills to avoid stress. She also emphasizes the importance of a transition between work and personal life, and knowing the signs to watch out for, like constant headaches and refusal to go to school. Gurka advises reaching out to a therapist if the stress becomes ongoing.
