Warming Up Sunday, Widespread Rain Monday and Tuesday: Saturday Evening Forecast 12/7/2024

SUMMARY: Meteorologist Grant Skinner forecasts a quiet evening with high clouds and cool temperatures across the Gulf Coast. Overnight, light showers may begin, with a 20% chance of rain on Sunday. Winds will shift to the southeast, bringing warmer and more humid conditions. Rain chances increase significantly Monday and Tuesday, with possible flash flooding. The region will experience moderate rip currents, and temperatures will rise into the 50s and 60s by early next week. By Thursday and Friday, colder temperatures return with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. The rain will taper off by the end of the week.

It was a cold morning with temperatures staying cool at around 60° this afternoon. We saw mainly high clouds today, but clouds will increase tonight into Sunday ahead of our next big rain chance to start the work week. Tonight, temperatures will still be quite cool but not as cold as last night. Lows will drop into the upper-30’s in land and the 40’s along and south of I-10. On Sunday, as high pressure shifts to the east. We will see a shift to a south wind bringing warmth and moisture to the News 5 area. Highs will push at around 70°, and some brief showers are possible mainly in our northwestern spots. Overnight Sunday into Monday as a cold front approaches the area and stalls, rain chances will starkly increase with more widespread showers and storms possible on Monday and Tuesday. Isolated flash flooding is possible as multiple rounds of showers and storms move through the area. After the cold front eventually passes Tuesday night into Wednesday, much cooler and drier air will begin to push into the area. Lows will be back in the 30’s to end next week with highs in the 50’s.

Town of Century undergoes leadership change after mayor resigns
