Kentucky General Assembly picks back up for part 2
SUMMARY: Kentucky lawmakers reconvened in Frankfurt to continue the legislative session, successfully passing House Bill one, an income tax cut championed by Republicans, which is now headed to the governor. This bill received bipartisan support, with only three Democrats opposing it, citing concerns about its regressive impact. Meanwhile, Democrats unveiled a platform of 15 bills aimed at benefiting working Kentuckians, focusing on public schools, criminal justice reform, healthcare access, and workers’ rights, with a significant emphasis on housing. Representative Lindsey Burke highlighted the importance of collaboration with Republicans to ensure the success of their proposals.
Kentucky lawmakers returned to Frankfort Tuesday to pick up part two of this year’s regular session of the General Assembly, and no time was wasted on addressing priorities for both sides.
