Wall Street Journal report questions port cranes
A Pentagon report published by the Wall Street Journal says the military sees Chinese-made cranes operating in U.S. ports as a potential ‘Trojan Horse’ that China could use to gather intelligence on materials being moved in and out of the country.
This comes hard on the heels of a report that a Chinese balloon shot down off the Coast of South Carolina was being used to spy on the U.S.
The state port at Gulfport has three cranes made by ZMPC in China. The gantry cranes used to load and unload container ships were installed in 2016.

Gulfport man gets 50 years for manslaughter and drive-by shooting
SUMMARY: Jermaine Mayers, 21, pled guilty to manslaughter and a drive-by shooting, receiving a 50-year sentence, with 10 years suspended, leaving 40 years to serve in prison. The manslaughter charge stemmed from the 2021 shooting of Jacoby Bolton in Wiggins, where Mayers admitted to killing Bolton, believing he was armed. The drive-by shooting in Gulfport involved Mayers shooting three victims in April 2021. He was sentenced to 20 years for manslaughter and 30 years for the drive-by, with the sentences running consecutively. After serving his time, Mayers will undergo five years of post-release supervision.

Tax season has begun. Here’s when you’ll get your refund

New this year, the IRS expanded its Direct File program, allowing some taxpayers to file directly with the IRS without commercial software, now available in 25 states.
