Votes for Arkansas medical marijuana expansion won’t count
SUMMARY: The Arkansas Supreme Court ruled 4-3 against including a proposed constitutional amendment to expand medical marijuana in the election, citing that the ballot title and popular name were misleading and inconsistent with state law. The amendment aimed to broaden the state’s medical marijuana program, allowing more healthcare professionals to certify patients and enabling home cultivation. Consequently, votes for this measure will not be counted, though it will appear on ballots. The advocacy group behind the proposal, Arkansas for Patient Access, expressed disappointment and vowed to continue pushing for improved access and reduced costs for patients.
The Arkansas Supreme Court ruled that votes for an effort to expand medical marijuana access will not count in the 2024 elections.
