Volleyball roundup: Harrison Central on an early roll as “Southern Six” play heats up
SUMMARY: The Harrison Central Red Rebels are on a winning streak, positioning themselves to challenge Gulfport and Ocean Springs in the new 7A classification. Last week, they won their invitational tournament by sweeping five matches at home. The Lady Admirals and Lady Greyhounds continue to play well early in the season. George County aims to make it back to the playoffs, and East Central and Vancleave are focused on securing a top seed in 5A. In Class 4A, only Greene County and Moss Point open next Tuesday.

Maroon Tide Storm Past Rebels 63-40 To Reach Fourth Straight South State Title Game
SUMMARY: Picayune rallied from a 21-7 deficit to defeat George County 63-40 in a home playoff game, scoring seven second-half touchdowns. The Maroon Tide (12-2) advanced to their fourth consecutive South State championship, where they will face undefeated Hattiesburg. SUMMARY: Only seven teams from the Southern Six are competing for state championships. In 5A, Gautier edged Natchez 36-30, with quarterback Trey Irving leading the charge. Poplarville narrowly beat Columbia in 4A’s second round and will host McComb next.
