SUMMARY: Newly released surveillance footage shows Timothy Leon Washington fleeing a motel after shooting his girlfriend multiple times in May 2022, leaving her paralyzed. A Kawai County jury recently convicted him of attempted murder and aggravated assault. Washington was sentenced to the maximum of 45 years in prison. The district attorney emphasized the violent nature of the crime, noting that Washington would have continued shooting if his gun hadn’t jammed. After the shooting, authorities apprehended him after he barricaded himself in a nearby hotel. Although Washington is eligible for parole, the DA plans to contest any potential early release.

SUMMARY: This afternoon, it was announced that special prosecutor Pete Scandalis will not criminally charge Lieutenant Governor Bert Jones in the 2020 election interference case. A Fulton County judge had previously ruled that District Attorney Fani Willis could not prosecute Jones due to her donation to his opponent. Scandalis determined that there was no evidence of criminal intent, noting that Jones sought legal counsel before participating as a fake elector. Jones accused Willis of misusing taxpayer money in an attempt to manipulate the judicial system.
