VIDEO: Local legend gets her due 74 years in the making

SUMMARY: Dot Ford Burrow, 92, grandmother of NFL quarterback Joe Burrow, was a basketball legend in Smithville High in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Averaging 50 points per game in her senior year, she set several scoring records, including 82 points in one game. Recently, she was honored in the National High School Hall of Fame. The ceremony in Boston was celebrated by 21 of her relatives, highlighting her enduring legacy in women’s basketball and bringing pride to Smithville. Dot’s illustrious career was commemorated, and she continues to inspire her family and community.

Dot Ford Burrow destroyed girls’ high school basketball records in 1950. She was inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame in July.
