Van Cleave dominated early, with Hunter Harper’s sacrifice fly sending Asher Henley home, leading 1-0. Leighton Betterer’s deep line drive then brought Hunter Parker home, making it 2-0. Lefet’s only run came from Foster Crockett’s single, sending Daniel Alec Farmer home. The final score was 2-1 in favor of Van Cleave. Bulldogs pitcher Tyler West pitched all seven innings. Lefet head coach John Walker praised the tight competition, highlighting their resilience and past comebacks.

Lafayette fell to Vancleave 2-1 in the second game of the 5A championship on Friday.
