Suspect of second apparent assassination attempt of Trump appears in court
SUMMARY: Florida deputies arrested Ryan Wesley Ruth, 58, near Donald Trump’s golf club amid an FBI investigation into an alleged assassination attempt on the former president. Body camera footage shows Ruth seemingly relaxed during his arrest, not questioning the situation. He faced federal charges for possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and for having an obliterated serial number, with additional charges possible. In court, he calmly answered questions and even smiled while speaking with a public defender. Prosecutors allege Ruth targeted Trump while the former president golfed nearby, and a Secret Service agent spotted his weapon.

Tuesday's lunar eclipse, supermoon: Viewing in the Midwest
SUMMARY: Meteorologist William Morrison highlights an extraordinary celestial event happening tomorrow night: a rare combination of a Harvest Moon, a supermoon, and a partial lunar eclipse. The Harvest Moon is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox, historically associated with farmers gathering crops at night. A supermoon occurs when a full moon coincides with the moon’s closest orbit to Earth, occurring three to four times annually. A partial lunar eclipse results from an imperfect alignment of the sun, Earth, and moon, casting a shadow on part of the moon. Cloud cover may affect visibility, so stargazers should keep an eye on the conditions.
A lunar eclipse will be visible for people in Arkansas and Oklahoma on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024.
