Morning weather forecast: 12/20/2024
SUMMARY: A cold front is bringing rain, drizzle, and snow to Central Kentucky, particularly in areas like Mount Sterling, Morhead, and Paris. The rain will transition to snow showers later today, with some minor accumulations expected, particularly in Southeastern Kentucky’s higher elevations. A winter weather advisory is in effect for certain counties. Temperatures, currently in the mid-30s, will drop as winds shift, creating wind chills in the low 30s. Snow flurries may persist into tomorrow morning, with the heaviest snow in Southeast Kentucky. The weather will clear up by the weekend, with sunshine expected on Saturday and Sunday.
It may not be Christmas yet, but some snow falling this time of year just feels right. A fast-moving clipper system will make for some slight wintry accumulations, particularly in elevated areas of Kentucky. Stay safe!

New job opportunities lead to slight uptick in Kentucky unemployment rate | Kentucky
SUMMARY: Kentucky’s unemployment rate rose to 5.1% in November, up from 4.3% a year earlier, exceeding the national rate of 4.2%. Despite 2.1 million residents in the workforce and a monthly increase of 5,500 nonfarm jobs, the number of unemployed also grew. Experts note more workers are entering the labor force than gaining jobs, causing the unemployment rise. Governor Andy Beshear recently highlighted the state’s economic success, with 170 companies planning to create over 9,400 jobs and invest nearly $7 billion. Beshear attributes this growth to a strong economy, while Republicans credit tax-cutting policies for boosting job creation.
