Vicksburg police discover shooting victim after crash
SUMMARY: A man, 25-year-old Devontay Knight, was injured during an early morning shooting in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. on Friday, June 7, in the 4100 block of Washington Street. Officers found Knight with a gunshot wound inside a wrecked vehicle. SUMMARY: Marvin Willoughby, a Memphis man, was convicted for the 2017 homicide of 28-year-old Freddie Mosley at the Mustang Motel in Jackson, Mississippi. The incident occurred on September 12, when police found Mosley dead at the scene. Investigators identified Willoughby as the shooter through surveillance footage. After a two-week manhunt across multiple states, he was apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Kansas. Authorities revealed he was also involved in human trafficking and prostitution, bringing women to Jackson for sex work. Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens announced the conviction.

SUMMARY: Harry Hylander pled guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting deaths of his grandmother, Sarah Hylander, 83, and uncle, David Hylander, 60, in Hinds County, Mississippi, in July 2021. SUMMARY: A bridge on U.S. 80 over the Pearl River, at the Hinds/Rankin County line in Jackson, Mississippi, will be closed for several months starting December 2, 2024, due to deck replacement by the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT).
