Verona family seeking justice after young woman's death in January
SUMMARY: In Verona, a family is grieving after a grand jury decided not to indict Dandre McIn, who shot and killed his girlfriend, Traya Darden, claiming it was an accident. Darden was found shot in the head on January 8 and later died in the hospital. Police initially charged McIn with first-degree murder, but the grand jury concluded there wasn’t sufficient evidence for intent. Darden’s family expressed their frustration, feeling deprived of justice and the opportunity to advocate for her. While McIn is currently released, authorities are still investigating and have not ruled out reopening murder charges if new evidence emerges.
