Varnes, Gatehouse named Bulldogs of the Week
SUMMARY: Landon Varnes and Charlotte Gatehouse have been recognized as Bulldogs of the Week for Aug. 26-Sept. 1. Freshman quarterback Varnes led No. 10 Mississippi Gulf Coast to a 38-24 victory over No. 2 East Mississippi, throwing four touchdown passes and rushing for another in his first start. Gatehouse scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win against East Central. Other nominees included freshman Laurel Conley, who recorded a shutout, linebacker Taurean Davis with 10 tackles, and sophomore Brandon Hines with notable kickoff returns.
