USS Jack H. Lucas (DDG 125) commissioned in Tampa, joins the Navy’s active fleet
SUMMARY: This morning, a ship named after a former Mississippian was officially commissioned into the U.S. Navy’s active fleet. The ship, named after Arleigh Burke Lucas who died in 2008, was built in Pascagoula. At a commissioning ceremony in Tampa, Florida, Lucas’ widow, Ruby Lucas, thanked everyone who came out to honor her husband’s legacy. The ship, an Ingalls-built Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, is now part of the U.S. Navy’s active fleet and will serve its missions.

The Ingalls-built USS Jack H Lucas is the first AEGIS Weapon System, Baseline 10, to be commissioned.

Senate bill to create domestic violence fatality review board
SUMMARY: Senate Bill 2886, the Mississippi Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team Law, aims to address deadly domestic violence incidents by creating a review board. ‘The Wall that Heals’ monument honoring Vietnam veterans coming to D’Iberville
