USM Instructor Designs Costumes for Louis Armstrong Musical Debuting in NOLA, Headed to Broadway

SUMMARY: Theresa Bush, assistant professor of costume design at The University of Southern Mississippi, is associate designer for the Broadway musical “A Wonderful World,” which tells the story of jazz legend Louis Armstrong. The show is currently in pre-Broadway performances in New Orleans and will eventually make its way to Broadway in the fall. Bush worked closely with Broadway Costume Designer Toni-Leslie James to bring the costumes to life, creating over 130 sketches in just one week. The production features 11 custom-built suits for Armstrong’s costume track. Bush sees this experience as a way to improve her teaching at USM.
