USM Gulf Park hosting ‘2020 Discover Gulf Park’ event for potential students
SUMMARY: USM in Long Beach is hosting a free event called Discover Go Park for prospective students and their families. The event will take place on March 2nd and will provide information about the university’s academic departments, campus tours, and financial aid options. The event aims to help students learn about the programs offered, get a feel for campus life, and find out about available scholarships and grants. The university is known for its programs in social work, nursing, and psychology and offers a smaller, more intimate campus experience for students.
Calling all prospective students and their families to USM in Long Beach, you have the chance to discover what it is like to be a Golden Eagle this month with a free event.

The free event takes place Tuesday, March 10th at the Long Beach campus. Check in is at 2 p.m. and the program runs from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Thousands of eighth graders learn about careers at Pathways2Possibilities at the Coast Coliseum
SUMMARY: Thousands of eighth graders attended the Pathways to Possibilities event at the Coast Convention Center to explore various career options available on the Mississippi Coast. With 45 schools participating, the event aims to introduce students to different professions before they enter high school. Attendees expressed excitement about exploring options, with interests ranging from aviation to health science. With hands-on experiences offered, students like Aiden plan to use what they learn to shape their future career paths, showcasing the event’s impact.
SUMMARY: U.S. Marine Corps General Eric Smith toured Engle Shipyard, showcasing the USS Harrisburg and USS Bogen, two advanced warships designed for diverse missions like power projection, humanitarian aid, and crisis response. Smith described these vessels as “Swiss Army knives” of the fleet, emphasizing their cutting-edge technology and capabilities. The USS Harrisburg, the 14th San Antonio class ship, and the USS Bogen, the third America class ship, serve as vital deterrents against threats from Russia and China. The shipyard’s role is crucial in supporting national defense strategies by enabling the Marine Corps and Navy to project power globally.
The Commandant of the United States Marine Corps toured two warships under construction at Ingalls Shipyard on Wednesday.
