USM graduate/Foxworth native named new commander of Army recruiting in South Mississippi
SUMMARY: Foxworth native and Southern Miss graduate Captain Kinsey Johnson is now the head of Army Recruiting in South Mississippi. Johnson, a 2018 USM graduate and ROTC program alumnus, assumed command of the US Army Hattiesburg Recruiting Company at a ceremony at Camp Shelby. She will oversee more than two dozen soldiers at recruiting stations in Hattiesburg, Laurel, Gulfport, Gautier, McComb, and Meridian. Johnson, previously stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, is excited to be closer to family, as is her husband. Former Hattiesburg Recruiting Commander Captain Tyler Smith is moving to Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
