USM football player shot, killed Tuesday night
SUMMARY: Late last night, Southern Mississippi cornerback MJ Daniels was found dead in a vehicle at an apartment complex in Hattiesburg. The Forest County coroner confirmed Daniels was shot and died on the scene. Hattiesburg Police are asking for public assistance in their investigation. A concerned grandmother mentioned being inside and unaware of the incident until informed by police. The Ivy Road apartment complex is increasing security and supporting authorities. Condolences have poured in, including from Daniels’ former high school coach. MJ Daniels transferred from Ole Miss to Southern Miss, gaining more playing time and admiration from coaches for his growth and positive demeanor.
