SUMMARY: Renovations at Paul B Johnson State Park started last summer and are almost complete. Cabins, campsites, and infrastructure have been upgraded as part of a year-long project. Cabins have been stripped down to the studs for a modern makeover, while RV campsites have been expanded for easier parking. A new camp store has been added, along with new roads, water, electric, and Wi-Fi systems. The park is expected to fully reopen in October of this year, with cabins set to open in February of next year. Construction crews have been working diligently to improve the park’s facilities and make it more modern and convenient for visitors.

Jackson Democratic mayoral primary heads to runoff

Published

www.youtube.com – WJTV 12 News – 2025-04-02 19:48:19

SUMMARY: In Jackson’s Democratic mayoral primary, Senator John Horn nearly avoided a runoff despite low voter turnout. Horn will face incumbent Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba in a runoff on April 22nd, after securing over 7,000 more votes than Lumumba. Many voters, including some who typically lean Republican, supported Horn for his hard campaigning and ability to get things done. However, Horn’s vote share fell short of the 50% needed to avoid a runoff. The winner of the runoff will advance to the June 3rd general election. Voters are seeking a mayor who is transparent and effective in managing city resources.

Dr. Quinn observes that technology often distracts users, leading to time loss and decreased engagement in daily activities. He suggests a technology detox, advocating for 24-hour breaks from social media to foster mental well-being. Additionally, he notes that prolonged screen time can cause eye strain and reduce active learning opportunities, particularly among students using AI for schoolwork.
