Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards wins Republican Primary runoff

SUMMARY: Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards narrowly won re-election in the Republican Primary runoff, receiving 2,885 votes compared to challenger Chad Glasson’s 2,679 votes. There was no Democrat challenger, so Edwards will begin his fourth term in January. Edwards plans to grow his department by adding more deputies and increasing their pay to remain competitive with other agencies. Currently, there are 15 deputies on staff at the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Edwards affirmed that public safety will always be their top priority.
