Union County has the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 1.8%

SUMMARY: Union County in Mississippi currently has an impressively low unemployment rate of 1.8%, one of the lowest in the state. This has led to an improved workforce participation rate and is benefiting small businesses in the area. Business owners, such as Christy Jumper and the president of Kevin Charles Furniture, have reported an increase in sales and a positive outlook due to the low unemployment rate. In fact, the entire Northeast Mississippi region is doing better than other areas in the state, with 11 local counties having unemployment rates at or below the state average of 2.6%. The national unemployment rate is currently at 3.5%.

WTVAs reporter Jake White spoke with Union County business owners about the county’s low unemployment rate.

Jackson Democratic mayoral primary heads to runoff
