‘Hundreds of millions of dollars’ in storm damages estimated in Tennessee | Tennessee

Final witnesses testify in federal trial of former officers charged in Tyre Nichols murder

SUMMARY: Closing arguments will begin tomorrow in the federal trial concerning Tyree Nichols’ beating . , attorneys for the three former Memphis wrapped up their cases. While Demetrius Haley and Tarius Bean’s attorneys announced they were finished, Martin Zumach, representing Justin Smith, called additional witnesses, character witnesses and an expert. Two former Memphis police lieutenants testified that Smith was a “good officer,” but they also admitted that a good officer would not repeatedly strike someone during an arrest. The trial is one of three related to Nichols’ death, with additional trials pending for murder and civil suits.

The final witnesses testified in the trial of three former Memphis Police officers charged in the beating death of Tyre Nichols. One of the witnesses, a Memphis Police Department lieutenant, even went as far to say that if his child was , he’d want one of the officers on trial to be the one who made the arrest.
