Two Wildcats commit to playing at the next level

Faulkner will be following in her mother's footsteps by playing for Jones College, where her mother is a coach. Anderson has chosen Mississippi College, a Division 2 team. Faulkner is known for her sharp shooting skills, especially from the three-point line, while Anderson is praised for her hard work and ability to secure a D2 spot straight out of high school. The team coach, Trey Collins, expressed pride in both players and is excited to see them excel at the next level.

More rain is expected south of I-20 tonight and over the weekend, with showers likely into Saturday and Sunday. Tropical Storm Barry, likely to strengthen, could bring additional moisture to Mississippi early next week. Overall, expect warm, muggy weather with scattered showers and thunderstorms.

Petal police continuing investigation into deadly early-morning shooting

Around 3:15 a.m., a woman reported to Pedal Police that her ex-boyfriend was banging on her door. After he forced his way inside, another man in the home shot him. Gold later died at the hospital. The Forest County Coroner identified the deceased, and no arrests have been made yet. The investigation continues.
