Two Jackson men sentenced in timber fraud scheme
SUMMARY: A former lawyer and lobbyist from Jackson, Mississippi have been sentenced for their involvement in a timber deed investment scheme. The lawyer, Jon D. Seawright, received a prison sentence of twelve months and one day, followed by two years of supervised release. The lobbyist, Ted Brent Alexander, was sentenced to five years of probation, including two years of home confinement with electronic monitoring. Both men were also ordered to pay joint restitution in the amount of $977,044.53. They had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud for soliciting investor funds and failing to use them as promised. The case was investigated by the FBI.
