Two arrested in connection to alleged kidnapping Saturday
SUMMARY: A man and a woman have been arrested and charged with kidnapping and neglect of a child in Forrest County. The Hattiesburg Police Department received a call about the alleged kidnapping and upon investigation, discovered that Christopher Troy Creech had left with a 6-year-old girl. Later, deputies from the Forrest County Sheriff’s Department pulled over Creech and located the child. Ethel Narcarrow Durr, the mother of the child, was also arrested. Both individuals have been charged with kidnapping and neglect of a child.

Backhoe, truck involved in crash near Okolona
SUMMARY: This morning on Highway 45 alternate near the Okalona exit, a large backhoe collided with a truck, leading to an unusual accident. A recovery team was seen loading the damaged backhoe onto a trailer. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Traffic was slowed in the area due to the ongoing investigation and cleanup. Further information from the highway patrol is anticipated regarding the incident, as the state department continues to assess the situation.

Interview: Project Hercules is dedicated to mothers who lost children

Mississippi law enforcement training with new breathalyzers
SUMMARY: The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is introducing new breathalyzers, the Intoxilyzer 9000, to replace outdated models purchased over 20 years ago. This modern infrared-based instrument is intended for both mobile and stationary use, improving performance, accuracy, and precision in detecting alcohol levels. The acquisition process for this new equipment began in October of last year and has made significant progress. Training for the devices will commence this week, with 82 units being distributed to law enforcement agencies across the state.
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is training its officers to use new breathalyzers.
