Two Amory churches look back at the bond formed in the year since devastating tornado
SUMMARY: Amory, one year after an ef3 tornado, saw two churches, St. James and First Methodist, coming together for healing. St. James was severely damaged in the storm, and First Methodist opened its doors to help. The two churches formed a bond, with members joining services together through Easter. The anniversary of the storm marked the start of Holy Week, and the churches now plan to have joint services on Palm Sunday and Easter every year. Despite ongoing storm damage and insurance delays, the churches aim to continue their relationship and friendship, working together as Christians.
Sunday is the one-year mark since an EF-3 tornado tore through Monroe County.
