Tupelo police sees rise in drivers passing stopped school buses
SUMMARY: Multiple drivers have been caught on camera passing stopped school buses in Tupelo, Mississippi. The violators are caught on three cameras on the buses, leading to fines of nearly $500 and a conviction on the driver’s record. The cases are investigated promptly, presented to Municipal Court, and the registered owner of the vehicle is presumed to be the driver and can be prosecuted. The Tupelo Police Department urges all drivers to obey traffic laws and warns that passing a stopped school bus will result in prosecution. So far, there have been 30 cases prosecuted and 30 convictions.
