Tupelo Police chief talks car burglaries
SUMMARY: Car burglaries are rising in Tupelo due to unlocked cars, with 95% of these crimes occurring because drivers fail to lock their vehicles. Shockingly, 50% of these unattended unlocked cars contained handguns, heightening the risk of further crimes. Police Chief John Quaka advises residents to lock their doors and avoid leaving guns in their cars. Burglaries are widespread across all city areas and tend to increase during summer, often involving juveniles. Residents affirm they lock their cars everywhere they go to avoid being targets. Visitors also stress the importance of locking doors and maintaining functional car alarms.

Election results are trickling in
SUMMARY: Election results are beginning to emerge from municipal primary elections across the region. EF-2 tornado damages homes in Lamar County
