Tupelo man accused of attacking officers during traffic stop

SUMMARY: William Westmoreland was pulled over for a traffic violation and when officers investigated further, they found reason to search his vehicle. Westmoreland refused and had to be forcefully removed from his vehicle. He then physically assaulted both officers, resulting in one being taken to the emergency room for treatment. Westmoreland was checked and cleared by medics and has been booked. He is currently being held without bond by Tupelo Municipal Court Judge Weir.
