SUMMARY: Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves and his challenger Brandon Presley are campaigning across the state to secure last-minute votes. During an interview at WTB Daniela Oreo, one topic of discussion was Medicaid expansion. While many Republicans in Mississippi support the expansion, Reeves opposes it, stating that the state already has 800,000 people on Medicaid and adding 300,000 more is not the right approach. Reeves believes that their hospital plan will provide sufficient funds to support hospitals. Reeves emphasized that the policy supports hard-working residents and positions Mississippi for growth. House Bill 1, now law, may still be amended before taking effect, with changes being discussed in a conference committee regarding a new trigger system.
